John Alexander Manners-Smith (1910)

John Alexander Manners-Smith BSc was an electrical engineer from Coniston, Haslemere, Surrey. He was an associate member of the Institution for Electrical Engineers.

On 3rd December 1910 he submitted an application for a patent for ‘An Improved Means for Boiling Water and Obtaining an Infusion of Tea or any Desired Beverage at a Prearranged Time’.

On 2nd April 1919 he made another application GB143351A for ‘Improvements in apparatus for boiling water at pre-arranged times and for similar purposes’. This was published on 27th May 1920.
