John Gannam was an illustrator and painter who was born in Lebanon in 1907, grew up in Chicago, and died in 1965. He became a magazine illustrator and was a prolific watercolourist. He was commissioned to paint for a number of advertising campaigns, including three bedding brands: Pacific Mills, Bibb Sheets, and St Mary Blankets. As a result, he often painted people in bed, sometimes with a cup of tea in their hands. I absolutely adore his work and I’d love to share some of my favourites with you here:
