2026 - can you still buy a new, modern teasmade?

Can you still buy a new teasmade?

Yes, you can! In this round-up I'll let you know what teasmades are still available today, and what's new in the world of bedside tea makers, hot water dispensers, and teasmade alternatives.

First, the bad news

Tea in bed is something many of us still cherish, but sadly in 2026 there has been no renewed interest in purchasing bedside tea makers, and there are no new products available featuring the ultimate trifecta of clock, alarm, and tea maker.

Indeed we have lost one of the three surviving teasmades from 2025. Sadly the sleek Joy Resolve Barisieur is no longer available.

It isn't surprising. We wake up in beautifully centrally heated, well insulated homes. Many of us have smart systems to turn on our lighting, heating, and music, and the vast majority of us have mobile phones.

The alarm function on a teasmade is now a throwback feature which is entirely redundant in the modern world.

Now the good news: teasmades available to buy in 2026

There are still two teasmades on the market with a clock, alarm, tea maker combination. These will be familiar to many of you.

Firstly there's the Swan STM200N, the digital model shown below, which was introduced in 2009. It was priced at £89.99 on the date of this post (10/01/2026). Amazon sales over the past month (including Christmas 2025) were a disappointing 500+.

Swan Digital Teasmade STM200N

The other model is the Swan STM201N below, aka the 'traditional'. On the date of this post (10/01/2026) this model was out of stock at Swan, and in response, the price from the sole seller on Amazon (Sure To Shop) had skyrocketed from £79.99 to to £149.99!

Swan Vintage Teasmade STM201N

Amazon sales for this model over the past month (including Christmas 2025) were only 300+. Compare that to just one of their many kettles, the black Windsor kettle, which sold over 4,000 units. It makes me wonder how much longer Swan will keep teasmades in their product range.

I asked their chatbot, but it only said, "Sorry I couldn't answer your question. You can try to rephrase your question or click on below button to submit a form to talk to one of our support agents." I will post an update here if I find out!

Nothing else comes close for the authentic triple-function teasmade experience.

Any modern alternatives to the teasmade?

The logical modern alternative to the teasmade is the hot water dispenser. With our bedside cabinets already loaded with smart gadgets, all we really need is something which provides instantaneous hot water at the touch of a button. Here are my three favourites:

The smallest hot water dispenser I have found is this VKT241 from Breville, which I believe was released in 2024. Think of it like a mini hot-water tap for your bedside table. Pop a mug under the spout, press a button, and in seconds you’ve got steaming hot water ready for tea, coffee, or any other instant drink, (or indeed pot noodles for your late-night munchies!)

Breville HotCup with water filter 1.4L

Here's another favourite which featured in last year's round-up, the VKT124 from Breville aka the 1.7L Breville HotCup. The design is a bit more contemporary and stylish, and I like the fact that it is designed to dispense exactly 250ml, but it is possible to stop it earlier at the touch of a button.

Offering the best overall spec, is the ADD5910M/05 from Philips - aka the Philips Water Station. It provides hot filtered water within seconds, at the exact temperature you like, with six temperature presets, five capacity presets, and touch screen controls. It even dispenses filtered water at ambient temperature.

The Water Station is the largest unit on this page, at 2.2L. With one of those at your bedside, you can stay in bed until lunchtime!

You can find some more hot water dispensers like these in my 2025 update - at the present moment they are all still available.

What next in 2026?

It is hard to pin down teasmade trends, so I was interested to check my Google Analytics in January, and see what sort of traffic this website got in 2025. It achieved 32,000 active users, with an average view time of 1m 01s. Active users have more than doubled since 2024, but view time has fallen. So where have these new users come from?

I think the rising figures in the UK may be due to general interest in retro appliances, some mentions of teasmades on various media platforms, and maybe some tweaks I have made on the website. All of this has pushed the site back into first place on Google (yay!)

I'm inclined to think that the upsurge of traffic from other countries, especially from China and Singapore, may suggest that manufacturer curiosity is increasing.

Maybe this will translate to some new products later this year or next?

I live in hope!
