A Companion Tea Set, model 890, was available as an optional extra. This set was from the Royal Albert Silver Maple range, and comprised two cups and saucers, a jug, sugar bowl and two teaspoons. It is listed in a brochure distributed in 1973, featuring models 835, 815, 843 and 854. I have also seen evidence of this set being purchased with an 855.
The brochure is entitled ‘Goblin’s gift to the nation… twenty minutes in bed every morning!’ The description of the companion set reads:
If a thing’s worth doing, do it properly. You’re not going to wake up to sip your Teasmade tea out of thick mugs, are you? Get a companion set instead. It’s a mini tea set in bone china: two cups, two saucers, a sugar bown and a milk jug. The delicate pattern is easy on the eye first thing in the morning – and we even include two stainless steel teaspoons. Go on, get one. Enjoy that twenty-minute lie-in even more every morning.
