Philips first became linked to the manufacture of automatic tea makers when it took over the Ekco Heating and Appliances business in Hastings in about 1977. However, I have been unable to trace any teasmade manufacturing activity. In about 1990 they began to produce two mug tea and coffee makers.

Salton brought out a very similar Two Cup tea or coffee maker in 1991 at £21.50, but it did not have a clock radio module. It remained on the market until at least 1994.

In 1994 Goblin Ltd re-entered the teasmade market with the digital Goblin Teamatic 10610 and then the radio version, the Goblin Radio Teamatic 10650R . At this point the Teasmade trademark did not belong to Goblin. Goblin withdrew the Radio Teamatic in January 1997. * * * * * *
